My Involvement With Editing :)

Here you can see a 'lovely' picture of me editing in the Mac suite - arranging the clips on the timeline from shots taken of the ceremony to say goodbye to the old Drill Hall.

My editing contributions

For this part of the project I started by (as the picture shows) arranging some clips on the timeline so that they were in the order we decided we wanted them to appear in the final edit. Next I got to work on the clips themselves by correcting the colours/saturation/white&black balance as some of the shots obtained from the ceremony, particularly those from outside, were far too dark to look professional.

On the left you can see how the clip looked before I did any correction to it, and on the right you can see that I have changed the colours quite significantly to look less dark.

Here is a screen shot of another clip I worked on, again to change the overall colour balance of the piece to improve it.

My Role & The Group Plan

My role within the group

My main role has been to collect information and gather research about Thornham in general and the Drill Hall. I will also be involved in the editing process for the final documentary piece, doing part of the edit to colaborate with everyone elses work in the group.

The overall plan

The main focus over the past 2 weeks while working on the project has been research. My group has decided to work on the documentary side of the project, which includes general info on Thornham over the past 100 years and specifically, the Drill Hall.
Research I have personally gathered includes:
  • Historic buildings in Thornham.
  • Events linking to the history of the Drill Hall.
  • Info on the Rev. who founded the Drill Hall.
  • Planning new footage/pictures that could be added to the documentary, linking to the research.

Introduction

This amazing and exciting blog is going to be used to document my progress within my group during our time working on the Thornham project. Exhilarating.
